Residents had evacuated the building prior to firefighters’ arrival. One woman claimed there was a man still inside the apartment.

She had entered a suite looking for him, was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by MD Ambulance. Her condition is unknown.

A rescue team searched for a person inside, however no one was present in the suite.

Firefighters had the apartment fire under control in 17 minutes. The cause of the blaze has not been determined. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

The last fire occurred around 9:50 p.m. at 325 Ave. E South. Crews responded to a garage fire and started an offensive attack to put it out. The fire was contained to the detached garage.

A fire investigator determined damages to be approximately $3,000. The cause of the garage fire is still under investigation.
