CALGARY – The last time the mercury hit 32.8 degrees Celsius in Calgary on June 28th, was in 1937. Calgary is on the cusp of breaking that record Sunday.

Weather experts forecast highs of 32 degrees, as Calgarians search for ways to beat the heat.

The Bow and Elbow rivers were packed Saturday, with the temperature reaching a high of 31 degrees Celsius.

The average daytime high for this time of year is 22 degrees – Calgary surpassed that before 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

There are no special weather statements or heat advisories in place for Alberta currently, with the exception of Medicine Hat where the heat should rise into the mid-30’s.
