Fire restriction lifted for City of Edmonton

City of Edmonton lifts fire restriction on June 18, 2015. File/Global News

EDMONTON –  Edmonton Fire Rescue Services has lifted the fire restriction in the Capital City due to cooler, more humid weather.

Starting Thursday, fireworks and open burning with a permit will be allowed. Edmontonians will also be able to use BBQs, cooking stoves and backyard fire pits.

The forecast indicates more rain and the fire danger rating is expected to remain at a lower level.

The fire danger rating takes into account temperature, wind conditions, humidity and moisture levels.

Officials say the conditions are not ideal, but the fire risk is manageable if everyone follows the proper precautions.
