UPDATE – She was found where she was lost, in the back-country west of Peachland
RCMP say two men were checking on livestock Thursday evening at about Mile 13 on the Peachland Forest Service road when Kara Stoyanowski walked out of the woods.
The men brought her out and she was taken to Kelowna hospital by ambulance for assessment and then released.
Police say Stoyanowski has some minor injuries but is otherwise in good condition after spending about 10 days in the wilderness.
RCMP spokesperson, Cpl. Joe Duncan, says Stoyanowski headed to high ground after the van she was camping in with a friend became stuck.
She then became disoriented and hunkered down at a creek she came across, surviving on stream water and mushrooms she found
Eventually, Stoyanowski followed the creek downstream to the area where she disappeared from and then continued on to the forest service road.
UPDATE–West Kelowna RCMP have issued a release stating that Kara Stoyanowski has been located alive.
No other details have been released.
