EDMONTON – A series of, at times, severe thunderstorms rolled through Alberta Thursday evening bringing with it high winds, lightning, and periods of heavy rain – a significant change of patterns for the parched province.

This historical radar time lapse shows the storm moving eastward and breaking apart as it approaches the Capital Region. A more severe tornado-warned storm cell was also be seen near Ponoka before it lost intensity through the evening.
