Fire crews are tackling a new wildfire burning near Kakiddi Creek in northwest British Columbia.
The fire is believed to have been started by lightning.
The Wildfire Management Branch says the fire currently covers about 12 hectares near Kakiddi Creek, 25 kilometres west of Iskut.
Twenty-three firefighters and one helicopter are involved. It is hoped cooler and wetter weather conditions will help in the firefighting efforts.

Meanwhile, the Wildfire Management Branch says 41 of their personnel, including two unit crews and one agency representative, are being deployed to Alberta to assist with the wildfire season there.
In total, 129 personnel and two fixed-wing aircraft have now been sent to Alberta. Eighty sustained action firefighters, eight support personnel and two fixed-wing aircraft left B.C. on Thursday.
The branch says sufficient personnel and resources remain in B.C. to respond appropriately to any fire activity during a busy wildfire season that’s off to an early start.
