CALGARY – One woman was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in the city’s southwest on Wednesday.

It happened in the intersection of 14th Street S.W. and 10th Avenue S.W. around 10:40 p.m.

Police say the driver of a northbound Kawasaki motorcycle failed to stop at a red light and crashed into the side of a Chevrolet Uplander that was travelling through the intersection

The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition with multiple limb fractures as well as serious head and neck trauma.

She was wearing a helmet and police don’t believe either speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The occupants of the Chevrolet Uplander were uninjured.

The Calgary Police Traffic Section is investigating the collision, and ask anyone who witnessed it to call 403-567-4000.
