Police appeal to public for tips in southeast Calgary sex assault case

CALGARY – Police are asking for help from the public to locate a suspect in a sexual assault that took place in southeast Calgary on May 17.

Police say a woman was walking in the 200 block of Heritage Drive S.E. at approximately 11:45 p.m., on Sunday, May 17, when she was followed closely by a man.

“The male struck her on the buttocks and yelled vulgarities at her while running away northbound toward the apartment complex located in the 0 to 100 block of Frobisher Blvd S.E.,” said police in a Wednesday release.

The man is described as Aboriginal, in his 20s, 5’9” to 5’10” tall, and 150 pounds. Police say he was wearing baggy clothing, a grey hooded sweatshirt and camouflage-print cargo pants.
