U2’s tour manager, Dennis Sheehan, died early Wednesday in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources say that Sheehan, who was in his late 60s, was discovered unconscious in his room at the Sunset Marquis Hotel.

Arthur Fogel, the Ottawa-born president of global touring and chairman of global music at Live Nation, confirmed Sheehan’s death.

“With profound sadness we confirm that Dennis Sheehan, U2’s longstanding tour manager and dear friend to us all, has passed away overnight,” he said in a statement. “Our heartfelt sympathy is with his wonderful family.”

Entertainment Tonight confirmed paramedics were called to a hotel room at approximately 5:34 a.m. for a man who was experiencing cardiac arrest.

Sheehan was U2’s tour manager for over 30 years and was travelling with the band as it began its week-long series of concerts in Los Angeles.

Sheehan had also worked with rock icons like Led Zeppelin and Iggy Pop.

In a statement, U2 singer Bono said: “We’ve lost a family member, we’re still taking it in. He wasn’t just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable.”

The death of Sheehan follows an eerie series of unfortunate events surrounding the band on their new tour. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr.’s father passed away days before the tour kicked off and guitarist The Edge fell off the stage at the end of the band’s May 14 concert in Vancouver.
