Alcohol, speed possible factors in fatal Saskatchewan rollover

MAIDSTONE, Sask. – Mounties say alcohol and speed may be factors in a fatal rollover in western Saskatchewan. The rollover happened Monday three kilometres east of Maidstone near Birch Lake.

Mounties say the northbound blue pickup was spotted by a passing motorist on Range Road 3225 around 8:20 p.m.

The driver, a 23-year-old Lloydminster man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

A passenger in the pickup, a 22-year-old Lloydminster man, was transported by STARS to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He is listed in stable condition with unspecified injuries.
