Kelowna woman injured in rollover accident

KELOWNA – A single-vehicle rollover accident in Kelowna has left a 40-year-old West Kelowna woman with serious injuries. The compact Chevy convertible that she was driving was going northbound on Highway 97 and apparently started to veer off to the right-hand side of the road. The accident occurred a few kilometres north of the airport near Duck Lake.

“You can see skid marks on the road,” a witness tells Global News. “The car just started going to the right, it missed the barricade and rolled at least two times before landing back on the tires.”

No other vehicles appear to have been involved. Bystanders stayed to help care for the woman before emergency crews arrived at the scene. The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. No word yet on the cause, but RCMP say alcohol may have been a factor.
