Ridge Meadows RCMP look for man suspected of possible child luring

Mounties in Maple Ridge are looking for a man after he allegedly tried to call out to a young girl Tuesday night.

Police say the man was driving a black pickup truck on Ritchie Avenue near 228 Street around 6 p.m.

The incident occurred directly behind the McDonald’s restaurant on the corner of Lougheed Highway and 228 Street.

It is alleged there was a group of children in the area and the man called out to one of them.

The child ran to a neighbour’s home as she did not recognize the man.

Police say the man did not get out of the truck or make any physical attempt to make contact with the child, but they would like to speak with him to understand his intentions.

He is described as an East Indian male, between 50 and 60-years-old, with a grey beard. He was wearing a red turban.

His truck is a newer model, extended cab.

Anyone with any information on the incident or the driver is asked to call Ridge Meadows RCMP.
