WATCH: Orca nibbles man’s paddle board in amazing GoPro video

TORONTO – Incredible GoPro video of a paddle boarder in New Zealand has gone viral after an Orca whale was shown hanging out and nibbling on a man’s board before disappearing.

Restaurant owner Luke Reilly was stand-up paddle boarding Monday approximately 200 metres offshore, according to 3 News, when a curious killer whale decided to visit.

“He popped up about 10cm away from the back of my board,” the Coromandel native told 3 News. “I was a bit nervous thinking, ‘what’s this guy going to do?'”

Reilly said it felt as if he was being watched by the whale.

“Then he slowly crept up and grabbed the back of my board and I yelled, ‘What are you doing!'”

Seconds later the Orca could be seen escaping into the depths of the ocean. Video of the experience has been watched more than 200,000 times at the time of this writing.

According to National Geographic, Orcas have been known to visit the waters near New Zealand but tend to frequent colder, coastal waters closer to the Earth’s polar regions.
