Nickelback wanted by Australian police for ‘crimes against music’

TORONTO – Police in Queensland, Australia have issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for Canadian rock band Nickelback for “crimes against music.”

Nickelback is on tour Down Under and Queensland Police Service is warning the public of the hazards of listening to the band’s music.

The police department posted a “wanted” poster on its Facebook page Wednesday featuring sketches of the four musicians.

“Police are on the lookout for these men who are believed to be impersonating musicians around Boondall this evening,” reads the Facebook post. “Avoid the area. It may be hazardous to your hearing and street cred.”

The police force used the hashtags #NoFixedAddress (the band’s tour name) and #LookAtThisGraph, referencing a 10-second viral video that mocks Nickelback’s hit song “Photograph.”

Last year, the Queensland Police Service used social media to take another shot at Nickelback, as well as Justin Bieber and Celine Dion.

Chad Kroeger told Global’s The Morning Show last November he understands why the group gets slammed.

“We record a lot of different kinds of music and when it gets played in that many places sometimes it’s tough, especially if you’re not into the band,” he said.

“That can cause some backlash but the nice thing is it can also garner you a lot of fans and allow us to be able to go everywhere in the world and play our music for people ‘cuz that’s our job. That’s what we signed up for.”
