SASKATOON – People from the northern community of Black Lake, Sask. are returning home Monday after being evacuated on Saturday due to smoke from a forest fire.

The blaze decreased air quality, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents – mostly staying in Stony Rapids, Sask.

Fifty-three evacuees including six infants were flown to Saskatoon and checked for smoke inhalation.

According to residents, most community members have now returned but the fire does continue to burn along with 14 other wildfires. Two are considered “not contained.”
