JOE RICH – The fire chief of a small community east of Kelowna and the local Regional District have parted ways for reasons that aren’t being disclosed.
“Curtis Nyuli is no longer a paid-on-call employee of the Regional District of Central Okanagan Joe Rich Fire Department. For privacy reasons we do not comment on personnel matters,” said regional district spokesperson Bruce Smith in an e-mail message.
Nyuli had been the fire chief since August 2003. He did not respond to messages left from Global Okanagan News.
The fire chief’s position has temporarily been assumed by Greg Robson who has been an assistant chief with the Joe Rich fire department for almost ten years.
“This temporary placement will ensure going into this potentially busy summer fire season that there’s consistency in providing the leadership, training and mentoring for those paid-on-call fire department members who are committed to serving their community,” says Dan Wildeman, the district’s Fire and Inspection Services Manager.
Wildeman adds the process to select a new chief begins soon.
