Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning that was issued for parts of southern Ontario.

The weather agency issued the warning due to conditions that could produce strong wind gusts, dime to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

Environment Canada lifted warnings for Halton-Peel, Dufferin-Innisfil and Waterloo-Wellington regions. Severe thunderstorm watches  issued for Hamilton, Huron-Perth, London, Oxford and York regions have also ended.

A watch is issued when conditions are favourable for severe weather while a warning indicates hazardous weather is imminent or occurring.

“Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury,” Environment Canada said in a statement.

Environment Canada is asking that the public report severe weather to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or on Twitter using the hashtag #ONStorm.
