“I bring a policy focus and a fundamental interest in governance,” said Wallace. “It is my profound belief that effective policy and public investment makes a vital difference to the lives of Torontonians.”

Wallace said he was approached to enter his candidacy for the role after spending time as part of the selection committee last fall.

“To be very frank, I was uninterested in it and at that point in time, I became more interested as I observed the change in leadership and the dynamism of the city environment,” said Wallace.

Wallace will assume his new role on July 13. In the meantime, John Livey will serve as the acting city manager from May 9 to July 12.
