VERNON – Firefighters called in the RCMP after attending a suspicious fire Monday night in Vernon.
At about 9:30, the fire department was called to a dumpster fire near the rear door of the downtown CIBC branch.
A police spokesperson says it appears wood pallets were set ablaze as well as the dumpster contents.
“The heat from the fire and smoke breached the back door, causing smoke damage to the door as well as inside the building,” says Gord Molendyk.
Investigators are hoping video surveillance camera images will help identify the arsonist.
