WINNIPEG — Desart Gift and Accessories will close its doors for the last time on July 1 this year.

The Osborne Village staple opened in 1968 and will close down after 47 years of providing an eclectic mix of products like handmade jewelry, greeting cards and books.

“I’m completing 47 years in business and I just think it’s time for me to move on and maybe do other things,” Donna Lagopoulos, owner of Desart said about retiring.

Lagopoulos helped form the Osborne Village Biz, the second Biz in Winnipeg after downtown’s. She considers Osborne Village as a role model for other neighborhoods and a great place to start a business, “I think the village is still the place to have your business if you have passion and if you have spirit and if you’re committed to a vision because this is where you can do it.”
