Rockets take western conference with come from behind win

PORTLAND — The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 8-4 on Sunday afternoon in Portland, winning the WHL Western Conference Final in six games.

The Rockets won three straight games in the series, erasing a 2-1 series deficit and advancing to the WHL Western Conference Final where they will take on the Brandon Wheat Kings. 

Madison Bowey and Dillon Dube each scored twice for the Rockets on Sunday as Kelowna came back from down 3-0 in the first period and raced back for the win. 

Tyson Baillie, Cole Linaker, Justin Kirkland and Chance Braid also scored Kelowna in the game as the Rockets scored three times in the second period and four times in the third to run away with the win.

The win advances the Rockets on to the WHL Championship series against Brandon, beginning this Friday and Saturday night in Brandon. 

Kelowna will host games three, four and five (if necessary) May 11, 13 and 15 at Prospera Place.
