TORONTO — Less than 12 hours after giving birth to Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge was the picture of perfection as she introduced the newest royal baby to the world.
Kate Middleton looked so put together, in fact, that a bizarre conspiracy theory actually emerged in Russia saying she looked “too beautiful” to have just given birth. Conspiracy theorists argued the baby “does not look like a newborn at all” and must have been born days before. Pro-Kremlin newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda printed the claims.
Mommy bloggers also chimed in. In a post titled, “Princess Or Not, How The Hell Does She Look Like That?” Melissa Charles wrote that the 33-year-old appeared “like she spent the day in a spa, and got a baby as a thank you gift. Good God.
“There’s no make up artist on the planet that could’ve made me look vaguely presentable ten hours after giving birth. Not even with some serious spackle, triple layers of Spanx, black magic, and probably a small animal sacrifice or six. Just. Not. Happening.”
Others on social media agreed.
Crystal Paine of Money Saving Mom admitted to wondering for a split second why she had looked like she’d been “run over by a train for at least a few days after giving birth” to her kids.
“But then I quickly reminded myself: Kate has a whole team of people who help her get ready for big photo-ops like this,” she wrote in her post, “Why We’ve Got to Stop Comparing Ourselves to Kate Middleton.”
“If you and I had a hairstylist, a makeup artist, and a dress designer get us ready for something like this, we’d probably look amazing, too!”
The woman responsible for Kate’s carefully coiffed curls was her personal hairdresser, Amanda Cook Tucker. According to the Daily Mail, Tucker “was spotted entering the Lindo Wing at around 1 p.m. London-time on Saturday, with a bag bulging with heated rollers, curling tongs and hair products.”
Around 6:15 p.m., Kate emerged with Prince William by her side, wearing three-inch heels and a spring-like yellow-and-white floral frock, courtesy of one of her favourite British designers, Jenny Packham.
Packham also dressed her when she presented Prince George in 2013.
The Telegraph reported Natasha Archer, the Duchess’s personal assistant, was also on hand to make sure Kate’s outfit was “spotless and crease-free and that she had all the make-up and toiletries she wanted.”
Ah, to live the life of a duchess.
