TORONTO — Sen’Derrick Marks is a towering, nearly 300 pound professional football player, who proved over the weekend he’s a giant softy.

The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman surprised 18-year-old Khameyea Jennings in her hospital room last week, showing up with flowers to ask if he could take her to prom.

Marks, 28, picked up the teen in a Lamborghini. She wore a long white dress and a tiara, a gift from Marks.

Jennings has battled liver cancer for two years, Jacksonville.com reports. Local organization Dreams Come True approached the NFL team about the prom date, and Marks stepped in to make Jennings’ night unforgettable.

“She said this is a day to be normal,” said her mother, Laquandra Jennings, “not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”

Jennings continued her studies through her cancer treatment, often studying in her hospital bed. She finished high school early, in December. She had planned to go with her sister to prom.

Jennings and Marks made a grand entrance into the prom, as Marks pushed the teen in a wheelchair through a group of students lined up to cheer on their entrance.

Marks, who is currently recovering from knee surgery, said it’s important to him to have a positive effect on people’s lives.

“I really want to make a difference,” said Marks. “I want to do something where you actually make someone’s day, to make a difference in someone’s life.”
