CALGARY – Police say almost half of the 106 iPads and laptop computers stolen from an Airdrie school were recovered by RCMP on Saturday.

On March 20, C.W. Perry Middle School was broken into and thieves stole 100 iPads and six laptops. Investigators called the theft a devastating blow to the school, as the iPad Minis and Macbook Air laptops that were taken are an important necessity for student learning.

On April 25, Airdrie and Sylvan Lake RCMP searched a residence in Sylvan Lake, and recovered three Macbook Air laptops and 27 iPad Minis. Further investigation allowed RCMP to recover five more Macbooks and eight more iPads.

Michael James Mieske of Sylvan Lake was arrested and charged with stolen property and drug charges, including trafficking of a controlled substance (MDMA), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), prohibited weapon possession, and possession of stolen property both over and under $5,000.
