WINNIPEG – The Whiteout might be over but Winnipeggers aren’t done cheering yet.

With the Jets out of this year’s NHL playoffs, many fans are jumping on the Flames bandwagon in the second round.

“They like the style, they like the work ethic and they like the story the Calgary Flames have been,” said CJOB sports host Jim Toth. “Much like the Jets, not expected to do much this year and they’re on this run.”

After Anaheim knocked out Winnipeg in the first round Calgary saluted the Jets for a great season with an ad and tweet, winning over a few more fans.

“I was really surprised when I saw that in the paper and everything else that they did… I thought that was a real class act of them,” said Jets fan Hal McLaughlan.

Just eight teams are left fighting for the Stanley Cup, four which have players from Manitoba including Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, Micheal Ferland of the Calgary Flames, Dale Weise of the Montreal Canadiens and Eric Fehr of the Washington Capitals.

“We’d love to see Jonathan Toews and the guys there do well again, they’ve won a couple of Stanley Cups so let’s hope you know, maybe Calgary gets there this year,” said Jets fan Darren Wewchyn.

The Flames start their series with the Ducks Thursday night.
