WINNIPEG — Manitoba has a new ombudsman.
Charlene Paquin was recommended for the job by an all party committee of the legislature.
Speaker Daryl Reid says her appointment has been confirmed by Lt.-Gov. Philip Lee and she assumes the post on Monday.
He says Paquin has more than 13 years of public service in senior government management positions, most recently as the assistant deputy minister of the community service delivery division.
Paquin also has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Manitoba, including serving on the Winnipeg Region Board of Directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
The ombudsman can investigate complaints about access to information and privacy matters as well as the fairness of government actions or decisions.
