SASKATOON – The art community is applauding a financial boost to weekend programming a new gallery in Saskatoon. The Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan announced Sunday it will receive a $100,000 donation from Scotiabank.

The donation will support a free, family-focused art program to be known as “Scotiabank Something on Sundays.”

“Sometime on Sundays is about us supporting a program where we allow anybody to come in for the free program on Sundays, where they can enjoy the arts community and come and explore their own personal development on the art side,” said Rodney Wendt, Scotiabank vice-president of the Saskatchewan and Manitoba north district.

Scotiabank’s donation will come into effect upon the opening of Remai Modern next year and will fund the program for five years.

Last year, over 3,600 people participated in the programs at the Mendel Art Gallery on weekends.
