KELOWNA — The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Rockets 3-2 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Now the best-of-seven WHL Western Conference final series is tied at one game a piece.
Rourke Chartier and Dillon Dube each struck twice. It didn’t look so good for the Rockets in the first period, as the Winterhalks scored the only goal of the period with less than four minutes remaining.
The Rockets started the second period looking strong but midway through, after a breakaway, Portland found the net to make it 2-0.
Chartier and Dube tied the game in the second but the rockets couldn’t take the lead.
The Rockets outshot Portland 40-32, but the Winterhawks held on to win.
The series now shifts to Portland for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Game five will be held at Prospera Place in Kelowna Friday night.
