Teen, 14, rescued from sex trade in Durham Region, 3 charged

TORONTO — A 14-year-old girl has been rescued from the sex trade in the Whitby area.

Two men and a 17-year-old female have been charged in the case.

The 14-year-old was being advertised online as an escort. Police found her at a Whitby hotel Thursday, and arrested the three people who have since been charged in the hotel’s parking lot.

George Sheilds, 26, from Trenton and Shaquwane Rose, 20, from Oshawa, are charged with exercise control of a person under 18 and possession of a controlled substance.

The female, who can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces those same two charges as well as fail to comply with recognizance

All three were held for bail hearings.
