Youth charged with first-degree murder in Prince Albert, Sask. death

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A teen has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal shooting in Prince Albert, Sask. The shooting happened on April 19 in the Crescent Acres area.

Police say Marina Thorpe, 64, was found outside a residence in the neighbourhood. She was declared dead at the scene.

An autopsy confirmed she had been fatally shot. No other details are being released.

A young offender was arrested and is expected to appear in Prince Albert provincial court Friday morning. His name cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say the shooting was not a random act of violence as the victim and accused were known to each other.
