GALENA BAY – Highway 23 in the west Kootenays is closed in both directions from Galena Bay to Shelter Bay because a ferry is temporarily out of service.

Repairs are underway to a propeller that was damaged by a submerged log on Upper Arrow Lake.
DriveBC estimates ferry service will resume at reduced levels between 6-9 p.m. Thursday.
Motorists can take an alternate route using the Needles ferry to Highway 6.
