WATCH: Teen falls off stage while accepting award, completely owns it

ABOVE: Like. A. Boss. Texas teen takes an unfortunate tumble into the orchestra pit, but bounces right back.

TORONTO – As legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi once remarked, “It’s not whether you get knocked down. It’s whether you get up again.”

So while Vince may not have thought much of Harrison Poe’s vision or footwork, he might have admired his ability to triumph over sudden adversity.

The Texas high school student was walking on stage at the 13th annual Tommy Tune Awards Tuesday night at the Hobby Center in Houston, Texas to accept an award when his luck – or rather, the stage – ran out.

Poe took a nasty tumble right into the orchestra pit as the audience gasped, but the high school drama student on his way to receive a Best Supporting Actor award clearly knew the meaning of “the show must go on.”

Looking no worse for wear either physically or emotionally, the Kinkaid School student dusted himself off and walked to the podium to accept his award.

“Thank goodness I’m alive,” Poe joked during his acceptance speech. “It is such an honour to accept this award today… especially after barely making it up here!”

The Tommy Tune Awards recognize and reward excellence in the production of musical theatre by Houston-area high school students and their teachers.
