TORONTO – A SkyWest flight that made an emergency landing in Buffalo Wednesday did not have a pressurization problem despite initial reports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Flight 5622, carrying 75 passengers, landed safely at Buffalo Niagara International Airport after initial reports of a door malfunctioning, resulting in the loss of cabin air pressure, the FAA said.
The FAA determined after further investigation that there was no pressurization problem and instead the plane was diverted because at least one passenger lost consciousness.
SkyWest Airlines spokesperson Marissa Snow said the pilots rapidly descended “out of an abundance of caution” after the passenger lost consciousness.
The flight left Chicago O’Hare International Airport around 10 a.m. and was diverted to Buffalo just after 12:00 p.m.
