Police request public’s help after child luring attempt in Auburn Bay

WATCH ABOVE: Calgary police are warning the public about an attempted child luring incident in Auburn Bay. Jenna Freeman reports. 

CALGARY – Police are investigating a possible child luring attempt that happened in Calgary’s Auburn Bay community on Monday afternoon.

At about 3:45 p.m., a young boy walked home from his school bus stop near the intersection of Auburn Bay Blvd. S.E. and Autumn Grove S.E. When he got home, he told his parents a man walking behind him asked if he wanted to go to the man’s house. The man then followed the child despite being told not to.

Police describe the man as Caucasian, about 5’10” with a slim build and short black hair. He was seen wearing a black T-shirt, ripped blue jeans and black loafer-style shoes.

Officers encourage parents to talk to their kids about what to do if a stranger makes them uncomfortable and how to tell the difference between adults they can ask for help from–police, transit drivers, teachers–and strangers who might be dangerous.
