Brampton man charged in death of 21-month-old daughter

WATCH: Further investigation into the child’s death deemed it suspicious resulting in the father, 42-year-old Frank Brian O’Dea, being charged with negligence causing death. Angie Seth reports.

TORONTO — A 42-year-old Brampton resident has been charged in the death of his 21-month-old daughter.

Monday night Peel police responded to a call around 11:25 p.m. to a residence on Pappain Crescent. The young girl was found without vital signs and rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“Paramedics worked on the little girl on the way to the hospital and she was pronounced a little time later, at the hospital,” said Peel police Const. Fiona Thivierge.

Frank Brian O’Dea has been arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death. His bail hearing was set for Tuesday.

Global News spoke with the owners of the home where the O’Dea lived in a basement suite. They said he usually kept to himself, and the girl would come to visit.

Officials said charges against O’Dea may change as the investigation goes on.

Homicide investigators are on the case and asking anyone with information to contact police.
