6-year-old girl dies following crash in Port Coquitlam

VANCOUVER – A six-year-old girl has died following a crash in Port Coquitlam on Sunday.

RCMP say the girl was involved in a collision on Shaughnessy Street and Lions Way, near the strip mall. The girl later died in hospital. Two others involved in the crash remain in hospital in serious condition. A third person was released from hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police. She is an adult woman who has a learner’s licence.

Family and friends have identified the girl as Kianna Moreau. They have set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for funeral costs.

The Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services are continuing to investigate what happened. There is no word yet on the cause of the accident or if there will be any charges laid.
