Sask. wins bronze at women’s wheelchair basketball championship

CALGARY – The top five female wheelchair basketball club teams in Canada were competing for the national title this weekend. Saskatchewan claimed the bronze medal with a victory over Quebec 70-49 Sunday.

Shelby Harrower led Team Saskatchewan with 27 points.

According to the Wheelchair Basketball Canada organization, this is the first time Team Saskatchewan has reached the podium at the event.

The Edmonton Inferno seized their eighth national crown after defeating the Calgary Rollers.

The 2015 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL) women’s national championship took place at Mount Royal University in Calgary.

CWBL was founded in 1986 and welcomes athletes with disabilities as well as able-bodied players.
