Search for missing Fredericton-area man ramps in near Chipman

CHIPMAN, N.B.- The Fredericton Police Force says melting snow has helped ramp up their search for Tony Ward in the Chipman area.

The Fredericton-area resident was last seen in Chipman Feb. 13. His 2010 red Toyota Camry was discovered near the Chipman United Church nearly a week after he was last seen.

Ward is 56-years-old, weighs 175 lbs and is around 5’9″ tall.

On Saturday morning, Neighbourhood Action Team and York Sunbury Search and Rescue members started their search around the church.

For part of the day, members concentrated their efforts along the river running through town. They even used quadcopters with cameras to get heightened images of the shoreline.

Laura Langin lives alongside the church where Ward’s car was found. She saw the car and said it didn’t move for days.

“It was parked there from Friday night until Thursday,” she said. “There was a high snow storm on a Sunday and they just plowed around that car.”

Langin said she thought the vehicle was parked there awaiting repairs,b ut when she found out it belonged to the missing man, she was shocked.
