Prentice speaks in Lethbridge

PC leader Jim Prentice is continuing his campaign as the May 5th election draws nearer.

Friday, he spoke to a room of supporters at the Lethbridge Lodge, reiterating his common chorus – to follow through with his long term budget to get off oil dependency.

But, Prentice also made local observations, recognizing the importance of both Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge. He also expressed excitement over the new infrastructure projects on the way.

“The new West Lethbridge Middle School, the Wilson Middle School modernization. There is no place that is more of an illustration of what’s going on in our province than Lethbridge with the kind of public projects that we need to build to keep pace with population growth that has been the most dramatic in North America over the course of the last ten years,” said Prentice.

Prentice will be keeping a close eye on Lethbridge West and keeping in close contact with Greg Weadick come election time. The NDP have been a serious and viable threat to the conservatives in that area since the last election. 2012 saw Shannon Phillips lose to Weadick by just 1200 votes.

“We have a really exceptional candidate here, Greg Weadick,” said Prentice. “He’s knocking on doors, he’s talking to the people that he’s represented so ably for many years. I trust in the judgment of the people of Lethbridge.”
