REGINA – After two weeks, 27 witnesses and 21 exhibits, jury members began deliberations Friday morning into the coroner’s inquest into the death of Lee Bonneau.

The coroner began the day by thanking the boy’s parents for being present during the inquest.

“We recognized you have suffered a great loss,” she said.

Over eight days of testimony, court heard more details into the six-year-old boy’s death, who was found with serious head injuries on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation in August of 2013.

Jury members also heard about the 10-year-old boy, referenced in the inquest as ‘LT’, who was responsible for Bonneau’s death.

The coroner directed jury members to make findings on Bonneau’s death and reminded them that an inquest cannot place blame or guilt on any party.
