SpaceX’s Dragon capsule successfully docks with space station

TORONTO – The espresso machine has arrived.

Six astronauts on board the International Space Station (ISS) are preparing to unload more than 1,800 kilograms of supplies along with scientific experiments from the Dragon capsule that docked Friday.

The SpaceX Dragon capsule, which launched from a Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday, berthed with the ISS just after 9:30 a.m.

Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti captured the capsule, saying afterwards, “It’s been just amazing. Lots of science and even coffee’s in there, so that’s pretty exciting.”

Along with the espresso machine are several experiments including those for Scott Kelly, who is currently participating in NASA’s One Year Mission in collaboration with Russian Space Agency’s Mikhail Kornienko.

Dragon is scheduled to depart the station on May 21.
