WATCH ABOVE: Winnipeg fire crews battle McDonald’s blaze
WINNIPEG — Fire crews were kept busy battling a blaze at a McDonald’s restaurant on Henderson Highway Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy smoke filled the area as crews used a crane to blast water down on to the roof. It is unknown what started the fire and there were no reports of any injuries.
Officials at the scene say the fire didn’t start in the kitchen but appears to have been mainly confined to the play structure area.
“The high winds of course fan the flames and the big thing is the oxygen within the air and it just intensifies the fire,” Platoon Chief Doug Martin told Global News. “It was a perfect storm in those regards.”
