Police on scene at a fatal collision on Herring Cove Road in Halifax

HALIFAX- Halifax Regional Police are on scene at a fatal collision on Herring Cove Road in Halifax.

Police were called to the scene at 11:07 a.m. after a car travelling inbound on Herring Cove Road left the road and hit a concrete wall prior to the intersection with Sussex Street. The 77-year-old male driver was unconscious upon police arrival. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger, a 76-year-old woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment.

A 34-year-old male pedestrian was hit by the car as it left the road and was also transported to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notification.

Herring Cove Road inbound at Sussex Street is down to one lane. Traffic restrictions will remain in place while the Collision Investigation Unit conducts their investigation.
