WINNIPEG — The hockey season is not over yet for Winnipeg’s Cody Eakin. The 23-year-old Eakin has been named to Team Canada for the upcoming World Hockey Championship.

Eakin is one of 19 players named to the team in the first group of players, with Hockey Canada leaving six vacancies for any players that get eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. Eakin last represented his country at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championship helping Canada win a silver medal.

Eakin is coming off his best season in the NHL. In 78 games he recorded a career best 19 goals to go along with 21 assists.
