TORONTO – A small vehicle fire broke out Tuesday on the Ambassador Bridge linking Windsor, Ont. and Detroit, Mich., bringing traffic to a standstill.
Police say the bridge will be closed for a few hours and are urging motorists to use the Detroit-Windsor tunnel to cross the border instead.
The fire started around noon Tuesday and was put out before 1 p.m.

Video of the fire showed smoke billowing up from the American side of the bridge.
U.S. officials say the fire involved a pickup truck towing a trailer that caught fire as it headed into Canada.
Traffic was stopped in both directions as Detroit police and firefighters responded to the incident.
Windsor police said in a statement that the bridge would be closed until approximately 3:30 p.m.
