WATCH: Police motorcycle camera captures close call on Oregon highway

A police officer’s skilled manoeuvres on his motorcycle helped him avoid what could have been a tragic disaster.

Officer Nelson Massey of the Tigard Police Department in Oregon was on his way to work Wednesday morning when he was suddenly cut off by a car heading toward him on a two-way highway.

His body camera caught the entire incident as a blue sedan turned onto a side road as officer Massey veered left, just missing the car by a hair.

The officer barely had any margin for error as an SUV was passing on his left at the same time.

According to KWG, the officer did not pursue the driver of the sedan because it wasn’t safe to turn around.

Massey said he will follow up with the driver soon on the near miss incident.

The department posted the video on Facebook with a warning to distracted drivers that with warming weather, more motorcycles are on the road.

“Eyes off the road – even for a few seconds – can result in tragedy.”

They also added that April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
