RCMP say a body was found on the property of the University of British Columbia president Arvind Gupta’s residence is “suspicious in nature”.
The deceased man was found outside Norman Mackenzie House around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. University RCMP are investigating, but say it isn’t Gupta. At first they said his death didn’t appear to be suspicious, but now have asked Lower Mainland Specialized Units to help with their investigation.
Norman Mackenzie House, located on the northwest corner of the university, is the traditional house provided to all UBC Presidents.
The university said that Gupta was currently in China, but referred all questions to the RCMP.
