TORONTO — A Peel Regional Police officer was stabbed Thursday morning while responding to a call in Mississauga.
An altercation ensued between police and a man which resulted in an officer being stabbed and the suspect on the loose.
Police said the man stole a police vehicle for a short while, which has since been recovered.
Schools were temporarily locked down in the area while the suspect was at large.
Police tweeted the man was “considered armed and dangerous” and said to not approach the suspect. The man has since been detained by police.
The officer’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
