Jorgen Hus aims to secure roster spot with Kansas City Chiefs

Watch above: Saskatoon’s Jorgen Hus is determined to turn his dream of playing in the NFL into a reality. Jack Haskins talks with Hus, whose believes he has what it takes to make the roster of the Kansas City Chiefs.

SASKATOON – Jorgen Hus isn’t familiar with the phrase “quit when the going gets tough.” If he was, Hus would have packed it in a long time ago.

The 25-year-old long snapper has been cut three times by two different NFL teams, but at no point was giving up an option for Hus.

“I believe I have what it takes to get the job done.” said Hus on Wednesday. “I’m just going to keep fighting and fighting until they rip that jersey off my back and don’t give me any more chances.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Hus attended his first NFL training camp back in 2013 with the St. Louis Rams. He was cut right before the Rams final pre-season game.

In 2014 Hus inked a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, only to be released one month later. Hus was quickly snapped up off waivers by the Rams, but again, he didn’t make the squad.

But in October, Jorgen worked out with the Kansas City Chiefs, and he made the most of his opportunity. The Chiefs offered Hus a contract, and essentially, another chance to prove that he can cut it in the NFL.

“I really excited to get a shot with Kansas City” said Hus. “I’m really looking forward to getting there.”

With two NFL training camps under his belt, Hus feels more confident about his chances of earning a roster spot this time around.

Mentally, he knows what to expect.

Physically, he’s stronger and faster than ever.

But if Hus is going to stick around in the NFL, he knows that he will have to be consistent. In the NFL, long snappers are machines – machines that rarely miss.

“If you’re going to miss, it’s got to be small,” explained Hus. “You just can’t have those stray bullets where the coaches kind of turn and go ‘where did that come from?’ so you just got to narrow those misses down and that guy will win the job.”
