REGINA – Private drinking water wells will now be covered as part of the province’s emergency flood damage reduction program. The announcement was made by the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) on Wednesday.

Under the program, communities, rural municipalities, businesses, non-profit organizations, individual farm and country residences and cottages facing imminent flooding can apply for emergency flood mitigation measures.

There are two levels of reimbursement for approved permanent flood protection works built during 2015; 85 per cent of the cost for individuals and businesses and 75 per cent for communities.

In order to qualify for funding, projects must be approved by the WSA. Requests can be made at any WSA region office or by calling 1-866-727-5420.
